David Shewmaker ~
(Harmonica/Slide Guitar/Recorder/ Trumpet/Lead Vocals/Backup Vocals)
Dave has it all. Talent oozes from this guy. He plays harp like no other, and YES, the recorder! Dave has a great sound no matter what he plays, and what a song-writer! In addition to the BluzBenderz, he also plays with the Elsea Smith Band. Dave's harp is featured in three songs on Bobby Carson's CD, "The Other Side of Midnight" released in 2004. Dave is a member of the Kansas City Blues Society.
Les Holder ~
(Bass/Backup Vocals)
Les, the backbone of the Benderz, has enjoyed playing bass for over 30 years. He is a founding member of the Elsea Smith Band, and later joined the BluzBenderz. Les provides a strong bass line that can strengthen any band. He is inspired by the likes of Victor Wooten. He travels the country looking for the best blues joints and the great bands that go with them. Wes is one of the most humble and hardest working musicians you will find. He has surrounded himself with good friends and has been blessed that they happen to be good musicians as well. He has also been a member of the Kansas City Blues Society for the past few years.
Dennis Nickell ~
(Drums/Lead Vocals/Backup Vocals)
Dennis Nickell has been playing drums for four decades. Orginally from near Chicago, he played in all the school bands, drum & bugle corps, and was a student of well known percussionist Tommy Hobart. He played for several years with with Cha Cha recording artists, "The Outsiders" in the 60's. In the 70's and 80's he turned to jazz playing with a variety of well known groups, the most notable being The Village Trio with pianist Bob Touloff and bassist John B.Cleveland. The 90's was a mixed bag of groups and music and travel. Into the new millennium he met the late great Lester "Wizard" King and played regularly with him for almost three years. His versatillity compliments the BluzBenderz and their home grown style of music.
